From the Principal
Happy New Year and welcome back to the 2019 school year.
I trust everyone has had the opportunity to have a break of some sort to recharge the batteries for another cycle of life’s journey.
New beginnings bring about new experiences and opportunities which creates a sense of excitement. It may be having a new teacher, moving to a different building, having a lap top for the first time or for Sharyn Black becoming a grandparent (congratulations to Sharyn and Mark).
New beginnings can also bring about a degree of uncertainty that can create some degree of stress and anxiety. The new receptions starting school for the first time and their parents must be feeling this way, so may Georgina Rowe a new teacher to Nativity. For our preparation days as a staff we have been discussing planning the first week of school to assist the students in the transition process from one year level to the next. Our aim is to keep the stress and anxiety to a minimum to create the excitement for another successful school year.
A reminder of 2 important events in the first week of the term:
- Welcome back family gathering on Friday 1 February. This is a casual evening where families are invited to bring along a BYO tea, drinks and chairs in a similar style to the Carols Evening. Information will be posted on Tuesday with further details.
- The Parent Information Evening for the Reception classes and the Middle School are on Wednesday 30 January beginning at 6.00pm. The Years 1-5 Information Night is on Tuesday 12 February, the same evening as the AGM.
- Tea & coffee will be served first thing on Tuesday morning from the St Joseph’s kitchen. Feel free to drop by, say hello and have a catch up with other parents.
Kind regards
