From the Principal
I was extremely pleased to hear feedback from parents on the peacefulness and calmness evident across the school as we begin a new school year.
There has been a deliberate strategy implemented across the school on being mindful of the stresses that can arise as students go to a new learning area, have a new teacher or be presented with higher expectations and more difficult learning experiences.
As Principal, it has been extremely pleasing to see the student and staff transition so well which I believe is a reflection on the significant work undertaken in the Well Being area. A recent innovation has been the introduction of the Mind Up Program which is designed to educate students on how the brain functions to manage our memory, our emotions and our thinking, we are also reviewing our Behaviour Management Policy and practices.
All this focus and attention on Well Being has now been formally recognised and we are now certified as a Kids Matter school. This will be recognised at the Annual General Meeting of the School Board which is scheduled for Tuesday 12 February at 6.15pm, preceding the Parent Information Night for the Year 1-5 classes. Further information is to be emailed to families. I look forward to celebrating the moment with as many as possible.
Kind regards
Greg Haynes
