What’s been happening in Year 4/5 BC?
Well, it was a very interesting finish to Term 1 and start to Term 2. Our students have been amazing with their remote learning and transitioning back to the classroom last week. We are very proud of them all and the way they have adapted to all the changes and still maintaining a positive and cooperative attitude.
We hope you enjoy what we have to share with you.
Assembly Dance
When our class does an assembly it is a bit of a tradition that we share a dance with our audience. Due to the pandemic, our assembly was cancelled last term. Well, we decided to video it and share it with you anyway. We hope you enjoy it.
Remote Learning
Our class was involved in remote learning at the end of term 1 and the beginning of term 2. Most of our lessons were conducted through Microsoft Teams. All students participated in remote learning if they were at school or at home. We really enjoyed our morning meet-ups where we had a chance to say hello to each other and share any news. We certainly kept ourselves entertained, and highlighted that some of our students might have a career path in running their own online streaming channel in the future.
We also started our class novel “The World’s Worst Teachers” by David Walliams. Mr Baldock never wants to say the word “balls” again after the first story in the book. You’ll have to read it for yourself to find out why.
May the 4th be with you
Our first day back to face to face teaching happened to be May 4th. A special day for some in our class including Mr Baldock who prepared a Star Wars introduction to welcome us back and a Star Wars reading comprehension activity.
Gymnastics
Towards the end of Term 1 our class did gymnastics in PE. It was great fun. We hope you enjoy our video of all the action.
Health – Creating a book about Bullying using Book Creator
In Health with Mrs Charlesworth, we have been focusing on the unit ‘Bullying and Resilience’. As a class, we identified the importance of reporting bullying and understanding emotional resilience. To complete our unit we used the online program ‘Book Creator’ to reflect on what we have learnt. We are very proud of our books and we each identified the best resilience Tool Kit strategies to use in different bullying scenarios.
Creating Infographics with Canva
In preparation for our Digital Citizenship assignment where one of our options is to create an infographic, we learnt how to create an infographic using Canva.
As a class we read an article on Sloths and how a group of special people were doing amazing things to save sloths. We were then set a task to present 5 facts using a new tool called Canva. We had to make sure that our information was easy to read and supported by graphics and photos. Here are a few examples below.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
To all our amazing Mums we hope you have an amazing Mother’s Day. We appreciate all that you do for us and hope you enjoy what we created for you.
We would also like to thank all the volunteers that ran the Mother’s Day Stall.
