From the APRIM
Dear Families,
Our students have been busy singing, dancing, acting and filming in preparation for our Grandparents and Special Friends’ Day film. Our theme is ‘High Hopes’ a song by Panic! At the Disco. I had heard it on the radio but had taken no notice of it, other than it was ‘catchy’. I then saw a cover version on Youtube by One Voice Children’s Choir. There was our inspiration!
Masa Fukuda co-wrote a song for the 2002 winter Olympics soundtrack and enlisted the help of over 1600 students from surrounding schools to sing the song. Afterwards, 25 of them told Masa that they wanted to keep performing together. This number grew to 130 and eventually became what is now known as One Voice Children’s Choir. Fukuda’s aim is to sing uplifting, inspiring songs.
We all have ‘high hopes’ for our Nativity students, wanting to lift them up not only academically but physically and spiritually. We want them to be inspired to be the best that God wants them to be.
Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Adelaide supports eight charities:
Hutt St Centre
Catherine House
SA Catholic Deaf Association
The Aboriginal Catholic Ministry
Centacare Catholic Family Services
Calvary Ain Karim
Our Lady of La Vang and St Patrick Special Schools
The individuals and families who are supported by these agencies would also like to have high hopes but sometimes life’s challenges get in the way. September is Catholic Charities month and this week you will receive a brochure outlining the work of these charities.
Our students will be supporting these charities with a carnival this Friday, 11 September as outlined in a note that went home, last week. Our Middle School class will also put the profits from their business enterprises (to be held on Wednesday 23 September) towards Catholic Charities. More information on the Middle School initiative will come out next week.
As we celebrate our ‘High Hopes’ movie which captures the hopes, dreams and opportunities for our students, let us remember all those who need a boost to reach high hopes and need our help to be uplifted and inspired.
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
