Middle School Markets
On Wednesday 23 September, the Year 6/7 students opened their businesses at the Middle School Markets.
Due to COVID-19, our businesses were a little bit different to other years. We opted for a mix of handmade goods and services; the students spent several lessons planning and making. They were given a loan of $15, which needed to be paid back at the end of the markets. Our aim was to make a profit, to donate all monies made to Catholic Charities. We developed business names and logos, learned to use simple business records, and calculate our income and expenses. We sold handmade goods including jewellery, soft toys, stress balls, slime and kinetic sand, and developed a number of games which students could play.
The Middle School students were very excited to see all of their goods sell out, and in total we raised over $400 to donate to Catholic Charities. We are very thankful to the school community for supporting our endeavours.
