From the Principal
Oh what a Year!!
One to forget in many ways with the challenges presented through the pandemic. The Graduation Dinner on Monday evening and the Fun Day yesterday for the students were exceptions to this and two great events that did allow us to celebrate a very successful year even if “unprecedented.”
There were many changes to arrangements, and yes whilst disappointing that some events such as the sleepover, the Carols Night and the Canberra trip couldn’t proceed, I appreciated the degree of flexibility coming from the staff, the students and the parent community to graciously accommodate the changes. We did the best we could under the circumstances. Let’s hope and pray for a return to the new normal in 2021.
I would like to acknowledge again the staff who are leaving Nativity at the end of the year. To the teachers – Tammee Secombe, Natalie Bampton and Michaela Sommers, to our maintenance man – Ray Kittel and classroom support person Paul Robinson, a very big thank you from us all here at Nativity.
To Mandy March, our classroom support person for 20 years and to Maureen Dickson for 25 years service to Campus and Nativity. I wish you well on your retirements and a big thank you for what you have given and who you have been over the years.
This is my last hoorah as Principal of Nativity and being part of the Campus. How 12 years can pass so quickly. It’s been a real privilege and I leave knowing Nativity is a great community, with a great staff and a great place for the students to learn. I wish you all the best for the future and I’m sure the incoming principal, Erika Dixon will continue leading Nativity to be the school of choice for families seeking a Catholic education in the Aberfoyle Park area.
Goodbye and may blessings to you all for the festive season and the future. I’m going to enjoy my Long Service Leave at the beginning of next year to discover the next chapter in my working life.
Kind regards
Greg Haynes
Your departing Principal.
PS And thank you for the gifts- a beautiful watch that will be a constant reminder of Nativity and the many fond memories over the 12 years. I will also treasure the personalised book from filled with drawings and messages from all of the students.
