Year 4 BP – Term 1
We have had a great start to the year, and we hope you enjoy reading about our learning in Year 4 BP for this Term so far.
Learning Dispositions
We have been exploring our School Learning Dispositions through a group challenge of trying to finish a 1000 piece puzzle. Students have been annotating photos of their group describing the language that is associated with each learning disposition. We look forward to sharing these at our upcoming Assembly in Week 9. We hope to have these puzzles completed by the end of this Term.
Maths Problem Solving Strategies
In Maths, we have explored many strategies that we can use when faced with a mathematical problem. The strategies we have learnt about and put into action are:-
- Guess and check
- Make a table or chart.
- Draw a picture or diagram
- Find smaller parts of a large problem.
Our class is pictured below, putting the “Guess and check” strategy to use with our mini whiteboards.
Now it’s your turn
See if you can solve this problem using the guess and check strategy.
Put the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 around the triangle so that each side adds up to 11. You may use each number only once.
Unit Prayer
Every Monday morning the St Joseph classes assemble in the centre space for Unit prayer. Our first one was a combined effort between all three classes, but our class recently hosted the last unit prayer. It is a great way to start our week.
Sports Day
Our class had a fantastic day at Sports Day. We were well supported by our parents who encouraged us and lent a hand when needed. We greatly appreciated your help. It was great to see all our students try their best in a spirit of cooperation and encouragement. We hope you enjoy the photos below.
