From The Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
This week we have Electrical Engineers and Structural Engineers on site to conduct preliminary work for the Play space redevelopment. The advice I have been given by Brown Falconer Architects is that work will formally begin in early to mid September. We are getting closer to some action!
We have some wonderful volunteers here at School of the Nativity. Thank you to all the Mum’s who have been collecting books to cover recently. This is a huge help and enables us to get new reading materials to the students in a timely manner. Thanks also to Isabelle Jardine (Jasmine- Rec) who is busily working to create a plant stall for our Grandparents Day next term. If you have any spare pots or plants that you could donate, please leave them at the front office. We appreciate you generously sharing your time with the community.
I know you will all be getting excited about Grandparents Day! This year’s them will be T.V Shows and Lisa Cannizzaro will begin working with students and teachers on this project from the beginning of next term. We have a lot to look forward to. Save the date in your calendar- Friday 24th September.
This week I met with Kenji and Hudson from 1/2K who shared their reports on Great White Sharks and Spiders respectively. Both students had a lot of knowledge to share and clearly wrote their facts into a report. Well Done boys, fantastic effort!
Congratulations to all the students who made their First Holy Communion and Confirmation on the weekend- Bailey, Brooke, Charlie, Ethan, Harrysen, Isaac, Ryder Steel and Zac. Thank you also to Sharyn Black, Bianca Cotton and Fr Mwaura for their preparation of these students for these Sacraments. We pray for each of these students that through the Holy Spirit they will be strengthened to share their gifts with others and receive God’s love and friendship through the Eucharist.
On Monday some of our year 6 and 7 students participated in the second round of the Knock Out Netball Carnival, unfortunately they did not make it to round three but will have a chance to try out their skills again on Thursday. On Thursday this week students from 3,4,5,6 and 7 will participate in the SACPSSA Netball Carnival at Priceline stadium, Mile End. Thanks to all the parents who are supporting teams by coaching or umpiring. I hope the weather is kind to you all and you enjoy the day.
The Annual Report to the school community for 2020 is now on our website if you would like to read it. This report includes information such as teacher standards and qualifications of staff, student attendance, school income and student, parent and teacher thoughts on our school from the recent DISA survey. If you would like a paper copy of the report please contact the office.
A reminder that Wednesday is the last day to donate your bread tags for the Student Leaders Social Justice initiative. Each class has a collection container.
Lastly, we look forward to seeing all students on Monday 19th July for the First day of Term 3. Take care over the term break and return to us safely.
God Bless,
Erika
