Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of Nativity School,
After yet another delay, I am pleased to report that work on the long awaited Play space will begin on Monday 22nd November following the first site meeting with Dirtwork Landscapes this Friday. I’m sure you will all enjoy watching the space being transformed over the coming weeks.
Last night the School Board met for the final time this year to approve the 2022 budget and amongst other things to discuss some planned upgrades of our school. In 2022 all classrooms will have sound field systems installed. Research shows that these systems are associated with improvements in academic achievement, speech recognition, attention, class participation, and learning behaviours. The St Joseph’s building will have new furniture for the break out space and the toilets in the MacKillop building will also have a makeover. The Bartram building will have external walls and gutters painted and new aluminium doors will be installed. If you are interested in joining the School Board in 2022 information about how you can nominate will be shared at the beginning of next year. In the meantime please feel free to talk with a current School Board member about their role.
Next week our “Little Stars” will graduate from their long transition to school program. We are looking forward to Sophia, Ciara, Scarlett, Esra, Lilah, Maisie, Dylan, Zac, Benjamin, Patrick, Aidan, Edward, Sebastian, Gabriel, Saifaan, Jason, Hamish and Dannie along with Eli joining us in Reception next year. Thanks to Lauren Broadbent and Cate Hutton for the learning opportunities they created of these students over term 3 and 4.
The Liturgical Year ends this Sunday with the Feast of Christ the King and we prepare to begin a new Liturgical Year with the season of Advent. The word Advent derives from the Latin word meaning coming – The Lord is coming. It is the magic time of the year when hope becomes most intense and we prepare ourselves to celebrate Jesus’s arrival in the world on Christmas Day, the feast day of our school. Over this season I wish you all some time to slow down and reflect, to be present in the moment and prepare your hearts for the coming of Jesus.
God Bless,
Erika
