From the Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School
Welcome to the 2022 school year! Yesterday our new Receptions had their first day of school. It was lovely to have them visit my office for a chat as they learnt about all the important places at school.
Welcome Sophia, Ciara, Scarlett, Esra, Lilah, Maisie, Benjamin, Aidan, Dannie, Sebastian, Saifaan, Dylan, Zac, Patrick, Edward, Gabriel, Jason and Eli (who will be joining us soon) along with our continuing Receptions Isla, MacKenzie and Jordan. We hope you have had a memorable first day at school and that the year ahead is a filled with learning that sparks your curiosity. We also welcome Amelia in year 2 Gowin in in year 3 /4, we are so glad you have joined us on your learning journey.
This Year the Aberfoyle Park Primary School Campus and School of the Nativity will celebrate our 40th Birthday. This is a significant milestone in the Campus and school history and we have many celebrations to look forward to as the year progresses. Thankyou to the Nativity parents who have volunteered to be a part of the Campus Committee organising celebrations; Helen Barker, Rebecca Stevens- Atkinson, Gill Kinnon and Bonnie Westover. We have a special 40th birthday surprise to begin the year as all students resume face to face learning on 14th February!
This Year our parent Information nights will be presented in an online form due to our current Covid restrictions. Teachers will email their presentations to you along with class learning overviews so that you can watch/read them at a convenient time at home. If you do have further questions, please let teachers know via email or by scheduling a follow up phone call. In addition, you may also like to take some time to download The Australian Curriculum: an overview for parents to learn about how the Australian Curriculum is organised, including information about the learning areas, general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities.
We have a number of vacancies on the School Board to fill this year. This truly is an important role as School Board members enable a spirit of partnership to be developed within the school community. Through partnership, and by the coming together of various people with a range of gifts and talents, the school will become a stronger community and be more effective in its religious dimension, individual identity and educational charter. During 2022 the School Board will be involved in the development of the Strategic Plan for the school, setting a clear direction for the next five years. If you are interested in nominating, please let me know. A date for the AGM will be advised as soon as possible in line with our current meeting restrictions.
This year our school has subscribed to “Praying with Children Sunday Liturgy” for all of our families. This resource is designed not only for Children’s Liturgy of the Word celebrated at Sunday Mass in the parish but also for families with young children to use at home to explore the coming Sunday’s gospel. https://www.yearcprayingwithchildren.org/ych3rwjcm2.html Please take a moment to explore the site. We hope you find this a useful tool in your child’s faith education.
The Nativity staff look forward to working in partnership with you and to seeing your child/ren flourish during 2022.
God Bless
Erika
