From the Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
It was wonderful to welcome all our students back for face to face learning on Monday. To celebrate our 40th Birthday and being back together again, David Rismondo our new canteen manager, created individual 40th Birthday cupcakes for each child and classroom teachers talked with students about the significance of this milestone for Nativity. In addition, Scott Baldock is creating a Nativity history timeline on our website. On the timeline is a video of the first day of our school in 1982 and new items will continue to be added throughout the year. It is certainly a reminder of how times have significantly changed in 40 years. Thanks Scott for putting this together for us and David for the delicious cakes.
I encourage you to take a look at our new canteen menu, especially some of the new home made items. The students are really enjoying the home made pizzas and garlic bread as you can see from their feedback
Liam 5/6 – really enjoyed it!
Ave 5/6 – the crusts are good and there is not too much sauce
Lily R/1 – I really liked my pizza
This year students from year 3-6 will have an opportunity to engage with Children’s University Adelaide. Children’s University has exciting learning activities outside day-to-day school work – so before school, at lunch time, after school or in the school holidays. Students get to choose what activities they do, where, when and how to do them. Once students have collected enough hours they will graduate at the University of Adelaide and be presented with a certificate at a special ceremony, all dressed up in a cap and gown, just like the older university students. There will be an information session for students on Children’s University on Tuesday 1st March. Meanwhile if you have any questions about this opportunity please contact Sian Halliday Wynes who will coordinate this for Nativity.
This Sunday is the Commissioning Mass for the Nativity Staff at the 9.00am Parish Mass. The Gospel reading for this Sunday is from Luke., it reminds us to be merciful as the father is merciful and to treat others as we would like to be treated. In these challenging times I encourage you to take some time to reflect on your daily contact with others and ask yourself these questions. – Do I show compassion and generosity by treating others with respect and courtesy? How do I encourage my child/ren to treat others with compassion, generosity, respect and courtesy? Please join us at the Commissioning mass, all are welcome.
You will notice from our Face Book and Instagram posts that our new play space continues to make progress and is due to be completed in March. Thank you to Brown Falconer Architects, Design Well Landscapes and Dirtwork Landscapes for making our students ideas a reality. We can’t wait to see and play on the finished product!
God Bless,
Erika
