Leadership in 5/6BH & H
Over the last three weeks, we have been working with Mrs. Paparella to learn about leadership and what it means to be a leader. As School of Nativity’s senior students, the year 5/6s have been reflecting on their impact around the school, recognising the importance of creativity, initiative and action in promoting positive change and contribution in our community.
In our first lesson, we worked in small groups to explore the qualities that are important in leaders, and the students had the opportunity to communicate with each other about the qualities they valued most. The top five qualities chosen by this year’s leaders were: listening, being fair, responsible, respectful and trustworthy.
Here are some of the 5/6 students to share their reasons why these qualities hold so much importance when being a leader:
“Listening is an important leadership quality because if you don’t listen, you do not know what you are trying to improve”
“Being fair is important because everyone should be treated equally so that we all have the right to be happy”
“You must be a responsible leader so that you can take on the challenges that the community is facing”
“Being respectful allows you to be a considerate leader who approaches situations in an appropriate way”
“Trustworthy leaders have people on their side because they know you will make positive changes in the school”
