From The Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
Strategic Plan:
For those of you that attended the recent AGM, you would have heard me speak about our strategic planning process and how we will develop a vision for our school over the next five years. We are being capably led in this process by Tatu Marketing and I invite you to help us get the process underway by filling out the survey that has been emailed to you and volunteering some of your time for a focus group. It is important for us to get a broad spectrum of opinion for our work. The plan will be completed and sent to families by the end of term 2 and will set the direction for what we will achieve as a community in the coming years, so you will not need to wait long to see the results of this survey.
School Wide Pedagogy:
On the Pupil Free Day Tuesday staff continued the work we began last year with the University of Southern Queensland. We have now finalised our statement for learning:
Nurturing and Empowering learners to thrive
This means our focus at Nativity is in developing the whole child, their attitudes, values, self-image and relationships, as well as their skills and strategies for learning so that they can have a successful future. Staff have developed a Narrative to go with this statement which we will publish so you are clear about how this statement forms the basis for all our learning at Nativity. We will now further this work by developing a school wide pedagogy to enhance the pedagogy of our school across all learning areas and we look forward to sharing this with you too.
Community Activities:
Thank you to Darryl Hocking for volunteering to organise this year’s Dad’s and Kids sleep out. Please save the date Friday April 8 / Saturday April 9.
On Friday 1st April the 40th Anniversary Committee will be hosting a When I am 40 dress up parade for all campus students, so you may like to start talking to your child/ren about their costume. More information will be provided by the committee over the coming weeks. We will also host our Caritas fundraiser on this day. Middle and Upper Primary students will organise stalls and activities for our whole school to participate in for a gold coin donation. Thank you in advance for supporting Caritas this Lenten season as they work hand in hand with local communities and churches to bring relief and aid to those whose lives have been devastated by natural disaster or conflict.
State Election:
As you know this Saturday is the state election and every child’s education is effected by the decisions and policies of our state government. Please take a moment to read the information emailed to you today about how each of the parties will address the issues important to students and families in catholic education.
God Bless,
Erika
