From the APRIM
Dear Families
Staff Retreat
Tomorrow our staff will be on retreat looking at the stories of Jesus’ birth as told in the New Testament. It will be a day of study, prayer and quiet reflection as we think about the Nativity stories and how they are represented in our community.
Altar Servers
It is not too late! If your child would like to be an altar server, especially at Thursday school Masses, please contact me. We will have training early next term.
Fundraising
Next term, we will be supporting Mary MacKillop Today which continues St Mary of the Cross’ vision. They work in partnership to help create generational change through the teaching of practical life skills to women, men and children in Australia and beyond.
In September we support Catholic Charities which in turn supports:
• Aboriginal Catholic Ministry
• SA Catholic Deaf Community
• Centacare Catholic Family Services
• Our Lady of La Vang
• St Patrick’s Special School Hutt St Centre
More information about our awareness and fundraising activities will be published early next term. As always, we ask families to support as they are able. No student will be disadvantaged or will miss out.
Masses
Class Masses will continue next term as well as celebrating the Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop on 11 August (instead of 8 August) and The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 15 August. (This is a holy day of obligation). More news about these will be published next term.
As we near the end of the term, may I wish you a relaxing break and leave you with this thought, “We can all work quietly doing our best for God.” Mary MacKillop 1883
Blessings to you all
