From The Aprim
Dear Families,
September is a busy month!
Season of Creation
From 1 September to 4 October, which is the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, is the Season of Creation. The worldwide Christian church unite in prayer and a call to action to protect our common home. We are creatures of this common home, part of all that God has made. Our own wellbeing is interwoven with the wellbeing of the Earth. During the World Day of Prayer for Creation five days ago, Pope Francis called us to become more attune to the cries of the Earth:
“If we learn how to listen, we can hear in the voice of creation a kind of dissonance. On the one hand, we can hear a sweet song in praise of our beloved Creator; on the other, an anguished plea, lamenting our mistreatment of this our common home.”
Fathers Day
I hope all the fathers, grandfathers and father figures had a lovely day on Sunday. On 15 April, Pope Francis spoke to a young boy who wanted to know if his recently deceased father was in heaven. Pope Francis told the crowd that “God has a Dad’s heart. He will not abandon his children.” Watch the little boy Emmanuele, overwhelmed at the opportunity to speak to the Pope and Pope Francis’ response: Watch Pope Francis & Emmanuele
Catholic Charities
September is also the month that we support Catholic Charities which in turn support Aboriginal Catholic Ministry, St Patrick and Our Lady of La Vang Special Schools, Hutt St Centre and Centrecare Family Services. Catholic Charities exist to welcome, include and advocate for others to live with dignity. Through the generous support of the people of the Archdiocese of Adelaide, the most vulnerable and disadvantaged of our community can be helped.
Every Mass, we recite the Lord’s Prayer (the Our Father).
Our Father who art in heaven , hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
By supporting those in need, we are helping to build God’s kingdom of truth and life, of holiness and grace, of justice, love and peace right here on Earth. This week an envelope for Catholic Charities will be coming home, please support as best you can.
Blessings to you all,
Sharyn Black
