From The Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
Time seems to be passing quickly this term and as I go into classrooms, I am starting to see Christmas decorations! It is a reminder that this Sunday marks the arrival of the season of Advent, the four weeks before Christmas. The word Advent means coming and is a time of joyful preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth and the arrival of Christ in our hearts. It also marks the beginning of a new liturgical year. As with all new beginnings, this season is intended to renew our joy, hope, faith and love, I hope you are able to take a quiet moment to experience this in the lead up to Christmas.
Thanks to all of you who have generously donated to the St Vincent De Paul Christmas appeal. We look forward to welcoming a representative from Vinnies at our assembly on Friday to collect our donations. It is not too late to donate, we will accept donations until Friday morning. In this time of increased cost of living Christmas can be a very difficult time for many families, particularly those who are experiencing poverty and disadvantage; and the need for St Vincent De Paul’s services increases significantly at this time, so they truly appreciate any support you are able to give.
Last night the School Board met to approve the 2023 Budget and Fee Policy for 2023.
We also farewelled Graham Brink from his role as School Board Chair. I would like to acknowledge Graham for his expertise, engagement and partnership particularly over the past two years in the role of Board Chair. He has been a great support to me and I thank him for his passionate commitment to our school. You will be greatly missed Graham! Thanks also to retiring members Anita Collyer and Bernice Martin for sharing their skills with the board and for their commitment to Nativity school.
Today we have students attending the Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival at Salisbury. Thanks to Scott Baldock, Nick Horton, Teresa Pols, Elle Clarke, Rachel Martinson, Ewa Starrs, Ari Torresan and Belinda Whitting for attending the Carnival today. Keep an eye out for some photos soon.
This Friday at Assembly is the graduation of this Year’s Little Stars. We are looking forward to welcoming Emmerson, Cara, Aroosh, Orlando, Samarveer, Sonny, Liam, Max, Harry, Luv, Darcy, Henry and Lenny to Reception in 2023. Thank you to Lucinda King and Cate Hutton for the learning opportunities they have created for the Little Stars over Semester 2.
This Sunday I will be attending The Arch D Podcasting awards with some of our students. Arch D podcasting showcases the voices of our Nativity students while engaging them in learning about literacy and digital technologies. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to our students, it is well worth it and I encourage you to follow this link. https://archdradio.com/podcasts/slp/nativity-2/ Good luck at the awards everyone!
Akira Builders have now been appointed to the Bartram building renovation and I will meet with them along with our Architects, Brown Falconer for the first-time next week to discuss the commencement of the project in January.
Finally, we look forward to welcoming you all to our community Christmas Carols on Wednesday 14th December at 6.30pm. More information will follow via email.
God Bless,
Erika
