From The Principal
Dear Parents and Students of Nativity School,
On behalf of the staff I warmly welcome you to the 2023 school year. Special welcome to our new Receptions starting school for the first time and the Cartridge, de Mouncey and Watson Haig families joining the Nativity community this year. All class teachers have posted a welcome message on the class Seesaw accounts for students, so please take a moment to watch these if you haven’t already.
We are looking forward to a strong productive partnership with you so that all our students reach their highest potential. Parent teacher partnership makes a significant difference in each child’s education. Thank you for supporting our student wellbeing conversations this Wednesday as the first step in this partnership.
As school begins we ask that you support your child/ren by ensuring:
• Daily school attendance
• Punctuality to begin the school day
• Independently organising belongings for School
Over the term break:
• We welcomed Ruby Leigh Hall to the world on December 30 (Nikki and Ruby are doing well)
• Mrs King, Mrs Wynes and Mrs Drum moved their classrooms to the Spence building.
• Akira builders have started work on the Bartram Building renovation.
• 2 Basketball rings are being installed on the netball courts this week at the request of our student leaders
• We have purchased some exciting Lego robotics equipment for all students R-6
• Bokashi bins have arrived for each class so we can continue to be mindful of recycling and reducing waste
This Year we have much to look forward to in learning too. We are excited to introduce to the community our statement for learning at Nativity and the dispositions for learning we believe are essential for our students, along with our RISE to Thrive personal Responsibility guidelines and policy. Over the coming term watch out for our snapshots about learning to understand more about our new initiatives to support student learning including The Positive Education Wellbeing program, The Writing Revolution and Bond Blocks.
We would love to see as many parent volunteers as possible, so please initiate or update your paper work with Cate and Lisa so we can get started! You may like to help by listening to reading, attending excursions, helping in the Canteen, being a class representative or organising one of our community events.
A reminder that COVID-19 continues to affect the community and we all have a part to play in keeping our school community safe and minimising the disruption to learning that can occur when illness circulates at school.
• Students who are unwell should stay home if they have cold or flu-like symptoms and get tested for COVID-19.
• If students have COVID-19, please advise the school as soon as possible, and stay at home until all acute symptoms (runny nose, sore throat, cough and fever) have cleared.
We can’t wait to see you all and hear about your holiday break on Monday 30th January. Parents you are most welcome to drop your children at their class and join us for tea and coffee in the St Joseph’s Kitchen from 8.45 am.
Let us remember:
One book, one pen. One child and one teacher can change the world.
