From The Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
Welcome back to the 2023 school year. It was lovely to see so many parents at our welcome coffee on Monday morning.
This week we have welcomed our new Receptions: Aroosh, Cara, Emmerson, Savannah, Darcy, Francis, Harry, Henry, Lenny, Liam, Luv, Max, Orlando, Samarveer, Sonny and Thomas. We welcome back last year’s mid year starters: Aerin, Scarlett, Ben and Hunter.
I chatted to the students to see what they have enjoyed most about starting school. Here is what some of them said:
– Emmerson and Savannah have enjoyed reading books
– Luv has enjoyed making the alphabet
– Max and Thomas enjoyed learning the Bumble Bee song
– Ben enjoyed drawing his family
All students have been engaging with our Nativity RISE to Thrive personal responsibility policy in the first week of school, this is a reminder to us that we are all responsible for ensuring we are actively contributing to an environment that promotes inclusivity, respect, collaboration, empathy and hope and one that values diversity, courage, curiosity and resilience.
Mary MacKillop is also a great inspiration and model to us of these values and knew that one small act or kind word, that may be seemingly inconsequential can have a profound and lasting impact on others. She is well known for saying “never see a need without doing something about it”
Next Tuesday 7th February is Safer Internet Day -a global event that brings together communities, families, schools and organisations from more than 180 countries to help create safer online spaces. The 2023 campaign is encouraging everyone to Connect. Reflect. Protect:
• Connect safely and with purpose –
by keeping apps and devices secure and using social media in positive ways.
• Reflect before we act –
by taking a moment to consider how what we do and say online may affect others.
• Protect ourselves by taking action –
by telling family, friends or colleagues about eSafety and how we can help.
The E safety website has excellent resources for parents and also some free webinars coming up for information and registration please go to http://esafety.gov.au/parents/webinars see the flyer below for Term 1 topics.
A reminder that his year our Parent information Night R-6 and AGM will be on Wednesday 15th Feb from 6.00pm, we look forward to seeing you.
We also warmly invite you to the Staff Induction at the Sunday Parish Mass on 19th February at 9.00am
God Bless,
Erika
