Learning Conversations
Learning Conversations are a time for you to meet and get to know your child’s teacher and continue to build a strong relationship between your home and your child’s school. They are an opportunity to share information about your child’s progress, interests and needs. They also help the teacher understand more about your child. By asking questions and finding out more about the information you have an opportunity to become further involved in your child’s learning and give support where needed.
At Nativity students in R-2 have a parent /teacher conversation with the focus of the conversation on the responses made by students in the Learning Conversation booklet.
Students in 3-6 have student-led conversations. During this time students are expected to attend and lead the discussion about their work, using the Learning Conversation booklet.
After your learning conversation we recommend that you take time to talk to your child about:
- his/her strengths and celebrate these.
- the ideas you discussed to continue to support his/her learning.
- setting some age appropriate goals.
Remember, formal Learning Conversations are only one form of communication between you and your child’s teacher. Keep connected with us using mutually agreed forms of school/home communication such as Seesaw, email, or phone.
Finally, research shows that parents have a significant impact on their children’s educational achievements. In fact, parental engagement overrides all other factors that have been shown to influence a child’s achievement at school. Thank you for working in partnership with us.
We look forward to sharing your child’s semester 1 report and achievements at the end of term 2.

Learning Conversation Agenda Feedback
This afternoon your child would have brought their Learning Conversation Booklet home. Inside you will find information about how your child is progressing with the school values related to belonging, compassion, justice, courage, forgiveness and gratitude. Your child has also reflected on how they are as learners concerning our learning dispositions of engage, challenge, connect and create. In the past, we have provided parents with the opportunity to provide feedback if there were any particular issues you wish to discuss within this booklet. We have decided to move this aspect to an online form, which means you will no longer need to return the learning conversation booklet, and you may keep this copy for your records.
Inside the envelope sent home this afternoon, you will find information on how to access the online form via a QR code to provide your feedback to your child’s classroom teacher. Information has also been shared via SeeSaw for your convenience.
