Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
Term 2 certainly continues to be eventful! We have welcomed 4 new students for transition visits this term: Marni, Nora, Jonathan and Zachary and look forward to them beginning their school journey in Reception next term.
Last Friday the Year 3 and 4 classes went to Monarto Zoo and the Reception to Year 2 students went to AFL MAX. The students were certainly excited by their experiences, here is what they said:
Levi – We saw baby giraffes, emus and rhinos
Cody – We built a cubby around a tree for 5 people to fit in to
Matilda – We had great fun making cubbies by putting sticks around the tree trunk
and seeing if we could all fit in
Lauryn- I most enjoyed seeing the old antelope – he was cute!
Emmy – I liked going on the jumpy castle because we did a race
Harry- We did races and rock climbing
Hunter- I liked playing Dodgeball on the trampoline
Ivy- I liked rock climbing because I made it to the top!
Our Year5/6 Knock out Soccer team made it to the next round, defeating Braeview 7-1, Christies Beach 8-0 and St John the Apostle 4-1. This means that they now play in the semi -final round. Well done team! Thanks also to Mr Horton for organising this event.
This week The Campus Book Fair begins on Thursday 15th June and runs until Tuesday 27th June in the Library. The Fair is open each day except Monday between 9.30 and 3.30pm. Thanks to James Coussins for his preparation and efficient running this event for all Campus students.
AKIRA builders continue to make progress with the Bartram building and the practical completion date is Friday 30th June (Our Pupil Free Day for term 2) Staff and removalists will begin the task of moving equipment and items back to the building in week 10. Over the term break new furniture will be delivered and electronic equipment installed ready for the first day of term 3. We really are getting excited about having this space to use again and to sharing it with all of you.
Teachers have been busy writing semester 1 reports and we look forward to sharing these with you in week 10 of this term. This year our reports are in a new format. Catholic Education SA is moving to consistent reporting across all primary schools. School of the Nativity is one of many primary schools implementing a new report this year. The intention is that all catholic primary schools will be issuing the same report format. More detailed information will follow with your child’s report.
Just a reminder that on Wednesday of week 8- 21st June we invite the parents or Reception to Year 2 students to a Maths workshop, facilitated by Melinda James in the Nativity Staffroom. If you are unable to join us and would like further information, please let Melinda know via email.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the 5/6 HP assembly this Friday and don’t forget the Nativity Nest Playgroup Tuesday from 9am.
God Bless,
Erika
