Dear Nativity Community
Children’s Book Week
Our countdown to 2023 Book week is on! Teachers are preparing activities for students to engage in during Book Week so that our students see and hear about the short-listed books for this year.
Has your child decided on the Book Week costume? This years’ theme for the CBCA 2023 Book Week is Read Grow Inspire. Your imagination could run wild with this theme.
Our Campus Book week Parade Day is Friday 25th August, we invite students to dress up as their favourite book character. As a Campus, we will have a book parade, parents are welcome to watch the parades, further details will be shared with families about the timing of the parades next week.
Premiers Reading Challenge
With less than 30 days remaining of the Premiers reading Challenge, I encourage all year 3-6 students to complete the reading challenge. Once completed the student can return their sheets to their class teacher.
Reception – year 2 students will complete the challenge with their class teachers.
If you need another form they can be found on this website 2023-20-Years-20-Books-Reading-Record-Schools-R-6-A9102607.doc (live.com)
Personalised Plans for Learning
Class teachers have been working hard with setting personalised learning goals for some of our students. The teachers will be in contact with some families to share the updated PPL’s and goals for semester 2.
Bartram Building
There is a wonderful buzz of excitement in our newly furbished Bartram Building. There are areas that classes can use for a variety of learning experiences. Staff and students took part in naming our shared spaces, the names or these spaces are:
Learning Lounge
Ideas Studio
Curiosity Corner.
Writing in Year 1/2
The students in 1/2W have been writing about if they were the Prime Minister and what they would do. I was invited to their room to read their ideas on what changes they would make. There were so many ideas including; saving the planet, looking after animals, caring for people with disabilities, looking after sick people, everyday being Sunday, living in a mansion and of course not having to do our jobs at home. Many students used change and effect in their writing and were able to explain the impact of their change. If you would like to read the ideas the writing is displayed on the class windows.
I would like to leave you with this thought…”Together may we give our children the roots to grow and the wings to fly.”
Kind regards
Melinda James
