From the Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School
We are excited to share our Grandparents Day performance Back to the Future with you all on Friday 29th September. There is a buzz of excitement in the air as rehearsals get underway. This year will also see the return of the lunch between the two performances. Ticketing and lunch information will be sent home next week, so keep an eye out! Thanks to all who are assisting with the lunch, costumes and general preparation with this much anticipated event.
This year in week 10 we will also have our Nativity Choir’s first performance in the Catholic School’s Music Festival on Tuesday 26th September,7.30pm at the Festival Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre. The choir have been busy learning songs and actions and rehearsing at Loreto College. I look forward to seeing our students perform at this event with choirs from other Catholic schools and am grateful to Ally Cunningham for preparing the choir for this opportunity throughout the year.
This week is the fitting of gowns and mortar boards for students participating in the Childrens University Graduation. There is still some time to get a few extra hours in before the stamping of passports finishes on 24th September. Please note all passports are due to Mrs Wynes no later than 26th September. Congratulations to Amelia B in year 5 who already has 573 hours of learning in her passport – amazing effort!
Let Justice and Peace Flow is the theme of the Season of Creation between September 1 and October 4. During this season we are invited to pray for and respond to caring for our common home. Mrs Baulderstone’s year 3 /4 class presented this video at their recent assembly about ways we can do just that. Take a minute to watch and reflect…
Next week our year 4 students will participate in the annual ReLAT assessment. The test will focus on knowledge core to the Year 3/ 4 Crossways Religious Education curriculum. The results of this test will be used by the school to inform whole-of-school professional learning needs and the continuous improvement of teaching in Religious Education.
Whilst 2024 may seem some time away, we will soon begin the process of planning staffing and class structures for 2024. We work hard to balance class sizes and to ensure that the learning and wellbeing needs of our students are met in their class placement. To allow us to plan as effectively as we can, I would ask that you let me know if you do not intend on being here at Nativity next year by the end of this term. Please note our school fee policy in regard to the notification period terms and conditions. Also, If you know of anyone who wishes to enrol with us, please encourage them to contact us as soon as possible.
At this busy time of the term I leave you with a thought from Mary MacKillop:
All will be right with a little time and patience. (1873)
God Bless
Erika
