Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
This week we have had 41 students from year 3-6 represent Nativity in the SACPSSA Athletics Carnival. Congratulations Annabelle O for your first in the 800m and 1500m races, Jack T for coming first in the 200m race and Alex S for your first in shotput. Well done to all our students who placed in other events and all participants for showing excellent sportsmanship and encouragement of each other. Thanks to our parent helpers Ari Torresan and Kylie Osborne for your help on the day and to our staff Rachel Baulderstone, Scott Baldock and Cate Hutton for their support of this event.
53 Students will graduate at the Children’s University 2023 Graduation Ceremony tonight at The University of Adelaide’s Bonython Hall. Nativity students completed over 7530 hours of learning as a part of this program throughout the year. Special congratulations to Chloe C, Cullen T, Lomatia T, Toby W, Zach W, Carex T, Amelia B and Brooke C who completed 300 hours or more of learning. Amazing effort!
Each year our senior students work with Footsteps dance to learn some dances for their Graduation. This week all our students participated in a Footsteps Dance lesson. Students in Early Years, Middle Years and Upper Years enjoyed a lesson designed to develop social skills, confidence, fitness levels, creativity, expressive and coordination Skills. I chatted to the Early years students about what they enjoyed:
Scarlett – I liked the chicken nugget dance move. It was funny!
Harry- I liked it when we pretended to be in space.
Amity – My favourite part of the dance was the bop.
Naksh – It was fun doing the strong arms
Ana – The best part was the party jump.
On Monday 27 November we invite you to coffee with Dan Lynch (Principal Sacred Heart College) and Jarrad McCabe (Deputy Principal Cabra College/Nativity Old Scholar) from 8.25 am. There will be a coffee van onsite and Dan and Jarrad will be available to chat with you about what Sacred Heart and Cabra College can offer your children in their secondary education. This is a great opportunity if you have any questions or would like to find out more about these Catholic secondary pathways. (A reminder that applications for both schools need to be completed in year 4 for year 7)
This year NAPLAN moved from May to March this year, and changes were made to reporting in order to provide simpler, clearer, and more meaningful results. ACARA are keen to hear from principals and teachers, as well as parents and carers, on these changes. If you would like to do the survey it takes about 5 minutes. Here is the link: NAPLAN Survey
The weather is looking great for the Dad’s Golf Day Friday. Thanks to Craig Hall for organising this event and Yangarra Estate for donating the prizes.
Next Friday, Fr Mwaura, Bianca Cotton and I will attend the launch of the Being Church Together Document: Theology, Vision and Guiding Principles for the Parish-School Relationship with all Catholic Schools and Parishes in South Australia. We look forward to sharing more information with you in regard to this in the coming weeks and months.
God Bless,
Erika
