Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School
It’s hard to believe we are at the end of term 2 already! The winter weather has well and truly set in and as I watched the news this week, I was reminded how this impacts those in our community sleeping rough with an 80-year-old man passing away in his car in Hurtle Square. As a Catholic community we all have a responsibility to uphold the inherent dignity of the human person and to contribute to the good of society, to the common good. Our responsibilities to each other cross national, racial, economic and ideological differences. We are called to work for justice in our community and today that’s exactly what our students did as they made soup for the Moore St Day Centre with Erin Thompson. Thank you all for giving so generously and donating vegetables for our soup to those in our community who need our support during this cold winter. There are some photos attached below….
This week you will have received your child/ren’s semester 1 reports. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please make a time to meet with your child’s teacher early in term three. Whilst we don’t have formal parent teacher interviews in term three you are welcome to make a time with your child/ren’s class teacher if you wish.
On Thursday students in Year 3-6 will participate in the Catholic Schools Netball Carnival at the Netball SA stadium. Thanks to our team coaches and umpires for volunteering your time to help make this a great day of fun and sportsmanship for our students.
The 2023 School Performance report has recently been posted on our website https://nativity.catholic.edu.au/performancereport/. This report contains information about student attendance, finance, staff qualifications, NAPLAN results and Live, Learn Lead survey results. If you would prefer to have a printed copy, please let Lisa know and we will send one home.
The upcoming term break is a great time to complete some activities for Children’s University. The CU portal has all the information you need: https://cuaportal.com/cu-login from learning destinations to online activities there is lots to explore. This year we have 36 students working towards graduation on Friday 1st of November.
Finally, many thanks to those of you who have emailed me or other staff to offer thanks and or your positive feedback for the learning that has occurred this semester. We appreciate you taking the time to do this.
Wishing you all a great term break. Take Care and return to us safely for a new semester of learning in term 3. We have such a lot to look forward to including Book Week, excursions, sporting competitions and Grandparents Day. Also save the date for Melinda’s maths and reading workshops for parents on Wednesday 14th and 28th August at 9am (more details will be available in term 3)
God Bless
Erika
