Principal Welcome
Welcome to School of the Nativity, a Reception to Year 6 Catholic School established in 1982 and situated on the Aberfoyle Park Primary School Campus. We are a community of thriving people, capable learners and leaders, for the world God desires.
Our strong Catholic values centred education is inspired by Mary MacKillop and the Josephite sisters, who believe that everyone should be welcome, treated with dignity and that education can empower and transform communities.
We know the importance of working in partnership with families, and this is reflected in our school motto, “Families Living, Loving, Learning” and encourage you to be actively involved in the life of the school and Parish.
Our highly skilled and committed staff continuously strive to improve educational outcomes for every student. We are a part of the Future Focused Learning network. This learning is based on the world-class research of Lee Crocket (Author/ Mentor) with a focus on cultivating self directed learner agency. Our students are learning each day to articulate what they are learning, explain the next steps in their learning, set goals for learning, see mistakes as opportunities to learn, know what to do when they become puzzled and seek feedback from others. Learning at School of the Nativity is personalised and prepares students for the future, ensuring they have dispositions for learning. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in specialised Physical Education, Performing Arts, Japanese and Library lessons, along with extra-curricula programs that support learning beyond the classroom.
Our shared Campus facilities include a Gym, Performing Arts Centre, Library, Canteen and vast play spaces.
Nativity school has recently established a state-of-the-art Nature Play space and Kitchen Garden and transformed our early years learning spaces to facilitate the integration of current pedagogical practices which promote student autonomy, inquiry and co constructed learning.
Students enrolling at School of the Nativity have the opportunity to continue their pathway in Catholic Education by transitioning to Cabra Dominican College, Sacred Heart College or other city-based Colleges, all of who have an excellent record of SACE completion
I invite you to visit our school community and to see for yourself what it has to offer on a personalised tour by contacting Cate or Lisa (Enrolment Officers)
I look forward to meeting you soon to discuss how your child will flourish in our school community.
