Early Years Learning
Strong Foundations That Last
Reception to Year 2 is a time of discovery, growth and possibility.
At School of the Nativity, our Reception to Year 2 curriculum supports children as they begin their primary school journey to grow into confident, capable and curious learners.
Our teachers create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child feels known, valued and encouraged. Students learn to ask questions, share ideas, work with others, develop independence and build a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
Why Our Reception to Year 2 Program Matters
The early years of school shape how children see themselves as learners. At School of the Nativity, we support the whole child by nurturing academic growth, social development, emotional awareness, creativity, faith and community connection.
Families can expect a learning environment where children are encouraged to:
- Build strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics
- Develop confidence, independence and resilience
- Ask questions, investigate and solve problems
- Learn through play, inquiry and hands-on experiences
- Grow in faith, prayer and Catholic identity
- Build respectful relationships
- Use technology to create and share learning
- Express ideas through art, music, movement and language
- Care for themselves, others and creation
- Feel a genuine sense of belonging
Our Curriculum
Across the early years, students build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, faith, wellbeing, creativity and inquiry through explicit teaching, hands-on learning and meaningful play.
