Primary Years (5-6)

The Primary Years for our Year 5 and 6 students have been carefully designed to cater for the personal, social and learning needs, and interests of adolescent students.  Flexible class groupings and a flexible learning space mean teachers can meet the needs of individual students as they change and grow. The teaching teamwork collaboratively to ensure the curriculum is broad and rich, with teachers leading the subject areas they are most passionate about.

Students begin to adopt some of the practices, such as using timetables, moving to different rooms and working with different students, to adequately prepare them for the next levels of schooling. They are well supported as they learn to manage their time and their workload, as well as learning to identify and manage changing emotions and relationships. Students are encouraged to explore their identity in the security of a Catholic school environment, and reflect on the values that will assist them in making decisions and solving problems both now and into the future. Students enjoy a camp to either Douglas Scrub or Kanagarilla, Aquatics at Port Noarlunga as well as a range of other excursions to support classroom learning. We have a strong leadership program with students learning about leadership and taking on various roles, as well as participating in community service.

They have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of SAPSASA and Catholic schools sports, both team and individual, as well as participating in our strong Music and Performing Arts program, which includes dance, choir, band and dramatic activities. Students enjoy a camp to either Douglas Scrub or Kanagarilla, Aquatics at Port Noarlunga as well as a range of other excursions to support classroom learning.
