Japanese Language
At School of the Nativity, students participate in one Japanese lesson per week, held in our dedicated Japanese room. This space features Japanese-style furniture, artifacts, and cultural displays, creating an immersive learning environment.
Our Japanese program develops students’ language skills, from simple greetings to more complex grammatical structures. In addition to language acquisition, students engage in a variety of activities that introduce them to the rich cultural traditions of Japan.
Beyond language learning, we celebrate Japanese culture through hands-on experiences. Students have explored traditional customs such as cherry blossom viewing, and our junior primary students created stunning Sakura artwork.
Our Japanese program provides engaging and meaningful experiences, fostering a love for language and culture in our students.
Physical Education And Sports
School of the Nativity boasts extensive sporting and recreation facilities across the Campus which includes three ovals, two outdoor courts, one outdoor covered court and large gymnasium with a full-size basketball court.
Following the Health and Physical Education curriculum, specialist Physical Education teachers help learners develop skills and promote engagement in sporting programs. Through exposure to an extensive range of sports, children have the opportunity to find an activity that sparks interest and motivates participation.
From Year 2, students can participate in competitive sports by joining Campus teams. Team sports on offer can include soccer, netball, basketball and cricket.
Learners have the opportunity to enter a wide range of SAPSASA and SACPSSA sports carnivals throughout the year, including athletics, swimming, football, netball, basketball, cricket and cross country.
In Years 5 and 6, students are given the opportunity to participate in the Australian International Pedal Prix – a competition whereby Human Powered Vehicles (HPVs) race on a closed, controlled circuit.
Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden
Our Kitchen Garden Program provides students across all year levels with hands-on learning experiences that connect gardening, cooking, and science. Students actively participate in planting and maintaining the school garden, developing an understanding of how to care for plants and the environment.
Through the program, students build practical cooking skills and learn how to apply these in engaging, hands-on lessons in our purpose-built kitchen. A strong focus is placed on Biological Sciences, particularly plant growth and sustainability, helping students understand how their learning can be applied in everyday life.
In the upper years, students benefit from extended learning opportunities. Year 5 and Year 6 classes participate in a double weekly Kitchen Garden session, allowing for deeper exploration and skill development in both garden and kitchen activities.
The Kitchen Garden Program encourages curiosity, responsibility, and real-world learning, supporting students to make meaningful connections between growing, preparing, and enjoying fresh food.
Children's University
We are proud to be part of the Children’s University (CU) program, an internationally recognised initiative led locally by Adelaide University.
Children’s University provides students with rich opportunities to explore learning beyond the classroom through a wide range of hands-on, interest-based experiences. These opportunities support our learners to engage with curiosity and passion, as they discover new interests, think independently, and take ownership of their learning journey.
Students are supported to challenge themselves by participating in a range of community-based learning opportunities at places such as libraries, museums, and sporting clubs, exhibitions. These experiences build confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset, helping students take risks and embrace new learning with optimism.
Through connections with real-world learning and community partnerships, students learn to connect and create—developing a global perspective while reflecting on their learning journey. Their achievements are celebrated through certificates and graduation ceremonies, inspiring them to see themselves as capable learners who can make a positive difference in the world.
