Rise to Thrive
Building Respectful Relationships
The School of the Nativity is committed to a safe environment supported by positive and respectful relationships by all members of the school community. The RISE to Thrive Behaviour Agreement is a core commitment by our community which articulates the behaviour expectation for the words, actions, and engagement of our community members.
At Nativity we RISE to Thrive.
When we RISE we are:
- nurturing our capacity to engage positively in our school community
- empowered to make confident choices about our actions and their outcomes
- building strong relationships that are the foundation of a thriving educational community
At Nativity, we are grateful for the right to be healthy, safe, heard and educated and therefore we are:
Respectful, Inclusive, Safe and show Empathy in our words, in our actions and in our processes.
Our Rise To Thrive Agreement
All members of the Nativity School community can contribute to the development of positive relationships and behavioural practises.
We believe it is a shared responsibility between students, staff and families to promote, support and model the RISE to Thrive behaviour agreement.
Students will:
• be respectful, inclusive, safe and empathetic in their words and actions,
• interact positively with others,
• restore relationships with staff support to follow restorative justice practises,
• accept responsibility for their choices and behaviours,
• seek support from staff to make positive behaviour choices when required,
• participate responsibly in SEL programs and wellbeing initiatives.
Parents will:
• act as positive role models of the RISE to Thrive behaviour agreement,
• support their children to interact positively and develop resilience,
• support Nativity’s behaviour management and restorative processes,
• communicate with staff about wellbeing and behaviour concerns regarding their child,
• work in partnership with school staff to develop individualised positive behaviour plans for students requiring additional support.
Staff will:
• explicitly teach the RISE to Thrive behaviour agreement as a part of the SEL curriculum,
• develop age-appropriate classroom expectations that are consistent with the RISE to Thrive agreement,
• engage students in wellbeing programs and initiatives,
• actively role model positive relationships with students, parents, and staff,
• create a welcoming, safe and positive school learning environment,
• be positive, fair and consistent,
• communicate with parents any concerns about their child’s behaviour and wellbeing,
• work in partnership with parents and students to create individualised positive behaviour plans for students requiring intervention.
