Caritas, Project Compassion, Travelling Candle Liturgy
On Shrove Tuesday, School of the Nativity hosted an amazing event – the Caritas, Project Compassion, Travelling Candle Liturgy, held at the Church of the Nativity. This year’s gathering was made even more special by the presence of Dr. Nathan Leber, a passionate social justice educator from Caritas in Western Australia. With gratitude, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Sharyn Black and Tracey Tessitore for orchestrating the inspiring liturgy. The presence of Fr. Mwaura, Deacon Ping, and Archbishop Pat elevated the proceedings. None of this would have been possible without the generous assistance of Mark Black, Bianca Cotton, and the dedicated members of the Blackwood and Aberfoyle Park Parish. Their efforts in cooking pancakes, serving refreshments, and helping with setup and clean up were invaluable. This year marked the 60th anniversary of Project Compassion, and we were honoured to host such a meaningful event. With the theme “For All Future Generations,” we are reminded of the importance of caring for our global community and safeguarding the future of our planet. Through acts of compassion and solidarity, we can create a brighter tomorrow for all. Well done to our students Tilly, Brooke, Jack and Aria, who played a significant role in hosting the event and to Chloe, Grace, Archie and Poppy for assisting with proceedings. Thank you also to Cardijin, Cabra, St Anthony’s, Stella Maris and St Bernadette’s Schools, who helped make this such a special service.
