Thank you for your support of the canteen and the high quality, healthy meals Dave provides the students at Nativity. Remember to have a look at the new menu and if you would like to volunteer some time in the Canteen during the week or on Sports Day, please let Dave know.
This week we have had some great weather for our Swimming and Aquatics programs.
The swimming program for students in Reception to Year 4 has a focus on water safety skills in the pool and the Aquatics program for Year 5 and 6 water safety at the beach. Our students have given some great feedback about both programs. Here are some of the students’ thoughts:
Year 5/6M enjoyed:
Catching waves on the Boogie Board (Matilda)
Paddling around in the Kayaks (Jack)
Snorkelling along the reef and diving down to see the fish (Harrysen)
Walking along the jetty and looking at the reef from above the water (Nate)
Reception K enjoyed:
Doing torpedos in the pool (Patrick and Samay)
Floating on my back (Maddie)
Going in a different pool to swim (Hanna)
School of the Nativity is guided by The Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide’s Safeguarding Children and Young People’s Policy in maintaining a child safe environment for our students. All staff and volunteers have up to date Working with Children Clearances and training. Each year staff also teach the Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum which has two main themes: We all have the right to be safe and we can help ourselves to be safe by talking to people we trust. Here is a link about what will be taught in each year level throughout the year:
Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum R-2
Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum Yr 3-5
Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum Yr 6-9
If you have any questions about volunteering and Working With Children Checks/Catholic Police Checks please see Cate and Lisa in the front office and any questions you may have about the Child Protection Curriculum can discussed with your child’s teacher.
On Saturday the Parish are hosting a Reflection Day between 10 am and 1pm in the Performing Arts Centre. A major part of this day will be discernment around a new name for the combined Parishes. All are welcome to attend the reflection and shared lunch afterwards.
Sunday our staff will be joining the Parish and participating in a Commissioning Mass at Our Lady of the Way Church Glenalta, 9am. Please join us if you can.
God Bless,
