What’s happening in 5/6HR

It has been a busy start to the term in 5/6HR and we are looking forward to what it holds. In English, we have started our class novel called the Dirrarn written by Carl Merrison and Hakea Hustler. During this, we will be building our sentence and text level understanding. Elements from the Writing Revolution will be included, which includes subordinating conjunctions, single paragraph outline, sentence expansion, appositives and sentence combining. In Mathematics, we have started units on algebra and space. In our algebra unit, students will be finding unknown values in numerical equations and exploring the connection between multiplication and division as inverse operations. We have continued to build student agency in HASS and Science, by supporting students to unpack learning intentions and write their own success criteria. We are looking forward to some important events coming up including Basketball, Cross Country, Keeping Safe curriculum, MITIOG and Grandparent’s Day.
