Dear Families
Reading at Nativity
Last week we celebrated Book week with the Book Week performance “Maybe a Miracle”, the performance incorporated many of the CBCA 2024 short-listed books. The character Charlie felt overwhelmed and had the problems of the world on his shoulders. Charlie wondered if a miracle was needed to change things for the better. Charlie went on a journey that led the characters through twists and turns making the most out of ordinary situations and concluded with a celebration of the power of positive thinking.
During Book Week, our class teachers spent time in other classes reading the short-listed books to other classes. This experience allowed for conversations about the love of reading and the students enjoyed hearing the stories from our teachers. At the end of the week, some classes voted on their favourite picture book.
Congratulations to the students who have completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year. We have several classes with 100% participation. Students from year 3-6 were invited to conduct the challenge at home and complete the forms and return to school. Please encourage your child to send in the forms by the end of this week.
The Arts
This week some students have been continuing their rehearsal for the Catholic Schools Music Festival. This is in preparation for the Catholic Schools Music Festival in the last week of this term which we are looking forward to hearing about.
Last week, students performed in Campus has talent. Standing on stage performing to a large group of people is something that many people find overwhelming, however some of our students enjoyed the opportunity to share their talents. Our students need to be congratulated for their performance with a special mention of Charlotte and her signing of ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow.’
Classes continue to prepare their acts for our annual Grandparents Day. This year we are looking forward to Nativity Counts Down and the performances of our students.
Father’s Day
Today the COLA converted to a buzzing breakfast dining area, with bacon and egg sandwiches and cereal being served to many of our dad’s and their children. Following the breakfast, students eagerly selected and purchased their gifts for the special men in their lives.
A huge thankyou to the amazing team of workers who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to have breakfast ready to serve and all the Father’s Day gift stall ready.
Wishing Fathers and Grandfathers a Happy Father’s Day for Sunday.
We continue to have a variety of learning experiences for our students, and I would like to leave you with this quote. “The best way of learning about anything is by doing something”. Richard Branson
Kind regards
