From The Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,
Congratulations to our Children’s University Graduates for 2024 who graduated at Bonython Hall, University of Adelaide, on Friday, November 1. Each graduate donned a special CUA cap, gown, and sash, receiving their certificate of achievement in the presence of university executives, special guests, and family and friends. A total of 30 students attended the graduation, accumulating an impressive 5,812.6 hours of learning over the year.
Amelia B (Yr6) was awarded the second highest honour of the ceremony, receiving a silver Post Graduate diploma for completing 665 hours of out of school learning. Toby and Zachary W completed over 450 hours of learning. Grace B, Poppy R, Matilda N, Sophie H, and Jensen W all completed more than 300 hours! Outstanding achievements! Students who were unable to attend the ceremony will receive their certificates at an upcoming school assembly.
Children’s University Australia is open to all students in years 2-6 and will run again in 2025.
On Monday our students attended the SACPSSA Athletics Carnival. We are very proud of our Year 6 boys who won section 5 overall, Ollie P won the year 5 age champion and Barron also won the year 6 age champion. Nativity was placed 3rd overall in Section 5. Watch out for our Facebook post detailing the achievements of these students and many more who did a fantastic job of representing our school.
This week our student leaders are launching our St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal with a video they have made about the causes of poverty in our community. Your donations will go to food hampers made by the Aberfoyle Park Vinnies Conference supporting people struggling to put food on the table this Christmas. Thank you in advance for your generosity. As a catholic school in the Josephite tradition we continue Mary MacKillop’s legacy lived by her words to never see a need without trying to do something about it in contributing to this important appeal.
I am pleased to announce School of the Nativity is now a partner school with Cardijn College. This means that students from Nativity have a guaranteed pathway to Cardijn and families are eligible for sibling discounts as we have with both Cabra and Sacred Heart Colleges. We will invite Cardijn to join as at an assembly soon to showcase the excellent learning opportunities at their school.
Finally, a reminder we have a number of events in the coming weeks beginning with the Dad’s Golf Day this Friday. Next week is the Colour Fun Run. It’s not too late to join the fun!
God Bless,
Erika
