From The APL&T
Dear Nativity Community,
Assessments
The school uses a variety of assessments to measure student achievement and growth, including the PAT (Progressive Achievement Tests) for all students from Reception to Year 6. These tests, similar to NAPLAN, assess students in areas like Reading, Maths, and Spelling and Grammar.
The results from these assessments have been analysed by teachers and leadership at both the individual and school-wide level to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and help inform planning for 2025.
MultiLit Program Expansion
In 2025, we are introducing SpellEx which will continue to build on the language-based, explicit approach to the teaching of spelling that is currently delivered in our Reception – Year 2 classes. The program is centred around a whole-class lessons, followed by additional opportunities for consolidation. SpellEx will emphasize the interaction between phonology, orthography, and morphology, providing students with a deeper understanding of English spelling.
Colour Run
Last Friday the Campus joined together for the School Colour Run on 15th November. It was simply amazing to see the energy and enthusiasm of the students as they completed the obstacle course whilst transforming from white T-shirts into multicoloured patterns.
Graduating Nativity Stars
This week our Nativity Stars students will receive certificates at our assembly as they have completed their transition program. We look forward to these students joining us as Receptions in 2025.
Nativity Nest Playgroup
The Nativity Nest Playgroup continues to grow, with attendance increasing each week, recently we had 19 children attend. Facilitators Kylie Osborn and Bianca Cotton create a welcoming environment with engaging activities.
Feedback from a recent CESA survey indicated that families are happy with the playgroup. Many families expressed interest in attending a second session during the week, and a few are interested in exploring the Ready Set Progress Program next year.
Next week is the final session of Nativity Nest for 2024 and we thank Kylie and Bianca for their passion and enthusiasm with running our program.
This week I would like to leave you with this quote from Henry Ford…“Anyone who keeps learning stays young.”
Kind regards
Melinda James
