Year 5/6 Parliament House and MOD Museum Excursion

Our Year 5/6 classes went on an excursion last Wednesday to South Australia’s Parliament House and the MOD (Museum of Discovery). We started the day by visiting the MOD museum and experiencing the “Beginnings, endings & everything in between” exhibition. The students found each of the different exhibits engaging. Students particularly enjoyed the exhibit where you had to smell all the different scents to see what memories they evoked to interacting with Artificial Intelligence.

We then moved to Parliament House where our local Member of Parliament Erin Thompson hosted us and took us on a tour of both seats of parliament. In the House of Assembly Ms Thompson helped us conduct a mock debate about whether homework should be banned. It was a lively discussion with students able to take on special roles and have their say. We also explored the Legislative Council where we finished off with a group photo.
