What’s happening in 3/4R

Wow we cannot believe it is already week 7! Term 2 for 3/4R has been filled with lots of learning so far. Our students are discovering what makes a persuasive text convincing, what our solar system is made up of, who our new Pope is, how to multiply and divide, and all about Australia’s rich history.

We are particularly enjoying persuasive texts, looking at different adverts and analysing techniques companies use to make us buy products! Our students found out that McDonalds and Hungry Jacks often use fake food in their advertisements to make their meals look better. We also looked at how collectable products like the Minecraft Cubies make us persuaded to buy more so we have a chance to find the “rare” collectable. Students have also been learning about high modality verbs such as “certainly” and incorporating these into their persuasive texts to make their writing more forceful.

Our Year 3’s are getting excited about their upcoming camp to AFL Max and we are all looking forward to the netball carnival in Week 10.
