What’s been happening in Japanese lessons

Junior Primary Japanese Update

This term, our Junior Primary students have been learning about seasonal events in Japan, including the Tsuyu (rainy season) and the Tanabata (Star Festival). They explored when the rainy season occurs in Japan and how people typically spend this time. As part of their learning, students created teru teru bōzu—traditional Japanese weather charms—believed to bring good weather.
We also explored a well-known Japanese folktale related to Tanabata, learning about the story of the two stars and the Milky Way. Students thoroughly enjoyed making their own colourful Star Festival magnets to take home.

Upper Primary Japanese Update

This semester, our Upper Primary students have been learning about food in Japanese. They practiced how to describe what they have eaten using key vocabulary and sentence structures. Students also had the opportunity to practice using chopsticks during class activities, which was a fun and engaging experience for all.
To conclude the term, we celebrated the achievements of our Japanese Points winners with a special presentation.
