From the Principal: Welcome to Term 4!

Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Nativity School,

We are off to a busy start! This week our year 4 students are heading to Woodhouse at Mt Lofty on their camp, and next week the 5 /6 students will camp at the Dizintari campsite at Yankalilla.

Next week, the Campus Book Fair returns to the Library. Many thanks to James Coussins for organising this event. The fair times are Thursday 23rd October- Tuesday 28 October (please note the library is closed Monday 27th October) 9.15- 3.30pm each day. It might be a good time to begin your Christmas shopping! Thinking of Christmas – a reminder that we will soon be running our collection of food for the local St Vincent De Paul to make their Christmas Hampers for those in our community who need some extra support to make ends meet at Christmas time, so it might also be a good time to put one or 2 nonperishable goods aside from your shopping in preparation. Thank you in advance for your generous donations.

From 10 December 2025, new legislation will come into effect that raises the minimum age for social media use to 16. Under the law, social media platforms must take reasonable steps to prevent children under the age of 16 from creating and maintaining social media accounts. The eSafety Commissioner’s website has more information on how this will affect families and schools and CTRL +SHFT have developed a free student guide which explains how the laws will affect them and how to navigate the new law.

During term 4 we will be preparing class placements for the 2026 school year, a complex and lengthy task involving all our teachers. The wellbeing and learning of each child influence the final decision regarding student class placement. If there is anything you feel needs to be considered in regard to learning or wellbeing for your child/ren please contact your class teacher by Friday, 25th October. Thank you for understanding that class teacher requests cannot be accommodated.

Friday, October 31st, is World Teachers’ Day. This is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the immense effort and dedication our teachers put into their work. Taking a moment to thank a teacher for educating, inspiring and empowering learners encourages them to continue the fantastic work they do. I know that the Nativity staff really appreciate the positive comments they receive from you, so make sure to give them a shout out on World Teachers Day.
