What’s happening in Japanese

As part of our recent cultural studies, students have been learning about the importance of food and exploring the issue of hunger affecting children in Africa and Asia. To deepen their understanding and take part in a meaningful charity event, our Year 3 to Year 6 students participated in an Onigiri Action activity, where they made Japanese rice balls (onigiri) in class.
This hands-on experience not only introduced students to Japanese culture but also encouraged empathy and awareness about global food challenges. Our Junior Primary students also joined in the fun by creating their own colourful onigiri artworks. It was a wonderful way to combine cultural learning, creativity, and compassion!
