What’s happening in Reception Li

Time has flown by quickly this term! Our mid-year students have almost finished their first semester of school, and their confidence and adaptation to school life has been evident throughout their engagement in learning. They have embraced every learning opportunity with enthusiasm and feel proud of their excellent achievements.

During Term 4, Reception L attended their first early years Mass along with the rest of the Early Years students. This gave them the opportunity to engage meaningfully in the liturgy and practice taking responsibility for the jobs allocated to them.

We also had our first Assembly in Week 5, where we shared our learning journey since starting school. The growth in our students’ confidence and learning has shone through, not just in classroom learning but also as independent and responsible members of the Nativity community.

One of the highlights of the term was our excursion to Kingston Beach, where students enjoyed observational painting and drawing mandalas on the beach, as well as learning about how algal bloom has impacted our nature and environment.

In the classroom, we have finished learning the 26 alphabet sounds as initial sounds and have started learning to read simple decodable words. Students have been practicing every afternoon, choosing a reader book and applying what they have learnt. In Mathematics, we have explored teen numbers and have been learning to use appropriate language as we describe things that are more than, less than, heavier, and lighter.

Of course, the excitement of celebrating Advent has filled our classroom! Students have been busy creating crafts, and as the fairy lights light up, the festive excitement is in the air. Students have shown great persistence as they work hard on their creations and try their best. This week our Elf on the Shelf arrived – we call him Plum because he is purple. Students are excited to see him each morning and wonder where he will appear next!

This term has been filled with adventure, growth, and countless joyful moments! Each Reception L student has made remarkable progress, and we are incredibly proud of how far they have come. We can’t wait to celebrate all they have accomplished as we come together to close out this special year.
