What’s happening in 3/4RB

The 2026 school year has begun beautifully in 3/4RB, with students settling into new routines and building positive relationships within our classroom community. There has been a wonderful sense of enthusiasm as we establish shared expectations and set goals for a successful year ahead.

We have also begun preparing for our NAPLAN assessments in Week 7, approaching this with confidence and a growth mindset.

In Maths, we have been exploring fractions, developing our understanding of halves, quarters, eighths and beyond. Students have been using hands-on materials to deepen their knowledge.

Our English lessons have been enriched by reading Charlotte’s Web. Students have loved following the friendship between Wilbur and Charlotte, engaging in thoughtful discussions and responding creatively to the text.

In Science, we have been learning about different types of animals. This learning was brought to life during a very special incursion this week with Animals Anonymous. Students were thrilled to see and safely hold a variety of animals, deepening their understanding through this hands-on experience.

In Visual Arts, we have begun working on self-portraits. Students are thoughtfully considering how to represent themselves through colour, detail and expression, and we are excited to see their unique creations come together over the coming weeks.

We also had a fantastic time at swimming, where all students demonstrated perseverance and resilience as they challenged themselves in the water. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow across the program.

Last week we celebrated Shrove Tuesday by sharing pancakes together and then gathered for our Ash Wednesday Mass, where students respectfully received ashes and reflected on the beginning of Lent.

It has been a busy and exciting start to the year in 3/4RB, and we look forward to sharing more of our learning and achievements with you in the weeks ahead.

Thank you,
Leonie Ruddock and Rebecca Broad
