What’s happening in 3/4C

Wow! What a start to 2026. The students in 3/4C have been busy learning and getting to know each other in this jam-packed term. It has been so lovely to see so much kindness and so many friendships blooming.

Sports Day was huge! It was wonderful to see all the children demonstrating persistence and determination, along with our school values and great sportsmanship. A key highlight of the day was seeing everyone cheer on their friends and teammates.

Our science lessons have been very interactive, with the children learning about different types of animals. This learning was brought to life during a very special incursion with Animals Anonymous. Students were thrilled to see and safely hold a variety of animals, deepening their understanding through this hands-on experience.

We have also been breaking down how to write narratives. The children have enjoyed using the Plot Mountain to guide them in sequencing their narratives. This unit has allowed the year 3 students to develop their writing skills in preparation for NAPLAN.

In Maths, we have been exploring fractions and place value. The children have loved getting hands-on with the MAB blocks as manipulatives to support their understanding of the value each block holds. They have also enjoyed our fraction unit, investigating halves, quarters, eighths, equivalent fractions, and even testing their skills by converting improper fractions.

In Religious Education, the children have been learning about Holy Week and have begun discussions about St Joseph’s Day. We have also explored Dialogue Week and discussed the question: Jesus showed people how to live with forgiveness, compassion and inclusion. How can we walk in the footsteps of Jesus to help our world be more loving and just for everyone?

As a class, we have also been learning about the Zones of Regulation. We have been discussing what each zone means and what emotions we might feel in each one. It has been important to remind the children that it is okay to be in any zone, but how we respond to our emotions is what matters most.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds for 3/4C!
