What’s happening in Kitchen Garden

Kitchen Garden has been a lot of fun and very busy this term. We started fresh with our garden this year, so we have planted many vegetables, herbs and fruit in the garden and it has all started blooming already. We have some amazing basil growing in the garden as well as some beautiful cucumbers which are almost ready to harvest. Students are doing an amazing job with looking after our garden and making sure that little pests are not eating our vegetables before we can.

In the Kitchen we have been trying out some new recipes and have added drinks to our menus this year. Students have been very engaged in the kitchen and have enjoyed trying a drink along with their meals each time we have been cooking. We have enjoyed some recipes including an Asian Cucumber Salad, Banana and Berry Smoothie, Simple Salsa with Corn Chips, Mango Lassi, Snake Bean Flat Ommelette and Tomato and Basil Pizza. Please stay tuned for the recipes as these will be uploaded by the classroom teachers onto seesaw very soon.

In our classroom learning, we have been focusing on Biological Sciences and what our plants need to grow and survive. We have been looking at living and non-living things and enjoying some very funny videos and eBooks that enhance our learning around these topics.

A very busy start to Kitchen Garden, but it has been very enjoyable with the few different changes made to the curriculum this year. If you have a few free moments, have a look at our beautiful garden that is growing!!
