What’s happening in 1/2W
Students in 1/2W have started Term 2 with great curiosity and enthusiasm as we dive into exciting learning across HASS and Science. This term in HASS, students are exploring continents and oceans, learning to identify all the Australian states and territories, and developing an understanding of how people are connected across the globe. Through class discussions and activities, students have been thinking deeply about their own connection to place and the important influences within their families, communities, and the wider world. It has been wonderful to see students sharing stories about their backgrounds, experiences, and the places that are meaningful to them.
In Biological Science, students have eagerly begun investigating the needs and wants of humans and animals and are now turning their attention to plants and how living things grow and survive. Students are particularly excited about the hands-on learning opportunities this term, including growing their own plants from seed. Over the coming weeks, they will observe and record the germination process, learning about the conditions plants need to thrive and how they change over time. These activities are encouraging students to ask questions, make predictions, and develop their observation skills.
It has been a fantastic start to the term, and we look forward to continuing to nurture students’ in 1/2W’s curiosity, creativity, and love of learning through these engaging topics and experiences.
