From the Acting Principal

As I begin my journey at the School of Nativity, I would like to sincerely thank our students, staff and families for the incredibly warm welcome I have received. I have truly enjoyed settling into this beautiful community and already feel so fortunate to be part of such a welcoming and faith-filled school.

The past few weeks have already been filled with exciting learning opportunities for our students. Our Year 3–6 students have been involved in podcasting workshops with James Meston from Catholic Education South Australia. This has been a unique and in-depth experience where students have been learning what is involved in creating a real podcast! From planning and scripting through to recording and production, it has been wonderful to see students so engaged in authentic and creative learning.

Our Year 3–6 students also recently participated in Gooroo incursions, where they had the opportunity to create claymation movies using digital technologies, props and creative storytelling. These rich, hands-on learning experiences beyond the classroom are part of what makes School of Nativity such an engaging and enriching learning environment for our students. It is wonderful to see students developing creativity, collaboration and confidence through these innovative opportunities.

Another beautiful highlight has been witnessing our school community living out our Catholic values through acts of service. Mrs Baulderstone and our student leaders recently made many litres of soup for Moore Street and personally delivered it to those in need. It was incredibly moving to see our students demonstrating compassion, generosity and kindness in action. Moments like these truly reflect what our Catholic mission is all about which putting faith into action and serving for those in need. Thankyou to all the families that generously donated vegetables for the soup.

Our school community recently enjoyed a beautiful assembly led by Reception Osborn, who proudly showcased their learning with confidence, joy and enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see our youngest students speaking, singing and sharing their work so proudly with families, staff and peers. A special thank you to the Reception Osborn staff for creating such a meaningful opportunity for students to shine and celebrate their learning with our community.

This weekend, the Church celebrates Pentecost which is a very important moment in our Catholic faith. Pentecost reminds us of the gift of the Holy Spirit, which filled the disciples with courage, hope and wisdom. In many ways, the Holy Spirit is like a guiding presence in our lives, helping us to show love, kindness, patience and understanding toward others. As a school community, Pentecost reminds us that we are never alone and that we are called to share God’s love through the way we care for and support one another each day.

I look forward to continuing to get to know all of our families and being part of this beautiful school community for the next few weeks.
