What’s happening in 3/4C
This term, the students have been actively engaged in Mathematics, with a strong focus on developing their understanding of algebra alongside multiplication and division. Through a variety of hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks, students have been building confidence in recognising patterns, using number sentences, and applying efficient strategies to solve increasingly complex problems. It has been wonderful to see their perseverance and willingness to challenge themselves, with many students demonstrating growing independence in selecting strategies that best suit their learning.
In Visual Arts, students have been exploring the vibrant and expressive world of Pop Art. They have been particularly interested in the techniques of Ben-Day dots and the use of onomatopoeia to create bold and engaging artworks. By studying artists within this movement, students have developed an appreciation for how art can communicate ideas and emotions in creative ways. Their own artworks reflect both imagination and attention to detail, showcasing their enthusiasm for this colourful and dynamic style.
Our Science learning has centred on Earth and Space, with a focus on the Sun and its significance to life on Earth. Students have explored the role of the Sun as a source of light and heat and have been encouraged to ask questions and think scientifically about how it impacts our daily lives. Through observations, discussions, and simple investigations, students are developing a deeper understanding of the natural world and strengthening their curiosity about space and our place within it.
We have also introduced Technology lessons using LEGO SPIKE, which has been an exciting addition to our program. Students have enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to design, build, and program their own creations. These sessions have strongly promoted teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience, with students demonstrating enthusiasm and determination as they work through challenges together. It has been particularly pleasing to see students supporting one another and celebrating their shared successes as they develop important collaborative skills.
During our reading rotations, students have been engaging in a range of purposeful literacy activities. One rotation has involved teacher-led reading of a class novel, where students have been developing their comprehension skills through guided discussion, prediction, and reflection on characters and events. Another rotation has focused on handwriting development, giving students regular opportunities to improve letter formation, fluency, and presentation. Students have also participated in independent reading, building stamina and confidence as they practise choosing texts, reading quietly, and responding thoughtfully to what they have read.
Class 3/4C has had a positive and productive start to Term 2, engaging enthusiastically in a wide range of learning experiences across the curriculum.
