From the Acting Principal
As my time at Nativity draws to a close, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the welcoming me into this beautiful school community. Working in a different school setting has provided me with valuable learning and I have been overwhelmed by the kindness, warmth and welcome that has been extended to me by students, staff and families alike.
One of the many things that has stood out during my time here is the respectful and caring nature of the students. Nativity is a community where kindness is evident every day and it has been a privilege to witness the positive relationships that exist throughout the school.
There have been many highlights during my time here. I have particularly enjoyed attending our weekly Masses and watching classes lead these celebrations with such reverence and enthusiasm. Faith is strong at Nativity and I have loved seeing how it is lived and expressed across the school community. Whether that is through Faith in Action by making soup for the poor or quietly praying the Rosary together in Rosary Group.
Another highlight was our Staff Retreat Day last week. Together, we spent time reflecting on the theme “Understanding is the Key to Justice” and explored how we can continue to lead and serve with faith, compassion and mercy. It was a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect and strengthen our shared commitment to Catholic education.
I have also enjoyed seeing the many engaging and interactive learning experiences taking place across the school. Today, as I walked through classrooms, I saw our Year 1/2 students designing and building 3D habitats, while our Year 5/6 students were using LEGO Spike technology to create and program robots that were shooting goals! These rich learning opportunities are a wonderful example of the creativity, innovation and curiosity that thrive at Nativity.
As we move towards the end of the semester, it is a particularly busy time for our teachers as they prepare student reports. As outlined in the letter sent home recently, we are now using SEQTA Engage to provide digital access to reports. Families are encouraged to register using the welcome email link as soon as possible. Please note that the link expires after seven days, so it is best to complete the registration process early to ensure seamless access when reports become available.
Finally, I am excited to share an important facilities update. Plans for the refurbishment of the toilets in the Bartram Building, along with the construction of new toilet facilities in the St Joseph Building, have now been approved by the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools. Building works are scheduled to commence later this year and we look forward to this significant upgrade that will further enhance our school environment.
Thank you once again for making my time at Nativity such a rewarding and memorable experience. It has been a privilege to serve this wonderful community.
