Dear Families,

Celebrating The Gifts Within Our Community

At School of the Nativity, we are continually reminded that every child who walks through our gates brings something unique and valuable to our community. Each student has gifts, talents, experiences and qualities that enrich the lives of those around them. Some teach us about compassion and inclusion through the kindness they show to others. Some inspire us by standing up for what is right and working to change what is wrong. Others bring respect, empathy, courage, joy, creativity or perseverance into our classrooms and playgrounds each day.

As a Catholic community, we believe that every person is created in the image and likeness of God and has an important role to play in helping build a more just and loving world. Our school theme this year, Understanding is the Key to Justice, reminds us that when we take the time to truly understand one another, we can create a community where everyone feels valued, respected and included.

This term has provided many opportunities for our students to put these values into action. Our commitment to social justice continues to shine through the generosity of our school and Parish community. Thank you to all the families who donated vegetables for our soup-making initiative. Together with our Kitchen Garden Leaders, we prepared and delivered 50 litres of soup to the Moore Street Day Centre last Wednesday. This incredible act of service demonstrates the compassion and care our students have for those experiencing hardship.

On the weekend, I was fortunate enough to watch our Nativity Noodles Netball Team in action. The Nativity Noodles are a campus-based team made up entirely of School of the Nativity students. It was wonderful to see the girls play with such enthusiasm, skill and teamwork. More importantly, they were a true testament to our school values. They encouraged one another, celebrated each other’s successes, showed respect to their opponents and demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout the game. It was a joy to watch them represent our school community so positively. Well done, Team Noodle!

As we reflect on all that has been happening across our school, we are reminded that education is about so much more than academic achievement. It is about nurturing young people who care deeply for others, who seek justice, who protect creation and who understand that even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact.

Thank you to our students, families, staff and parish community for continuing to make the School of the Nativity a place where everyone belongs and where each person is encouraged to share their unique gifts with the world.

In all things love,
Rachel Baulderstone
