What’s happening in Kitchen Garden
This term, our students have thoroughly enjoyed their learning in the Kitchen Garden program, engaging in a range of hands-on experiences that connect them to where food comes from. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing understanding of how to care for plants and use fresh produce in meaningful ways.
A key focus has been learning how to grow our own plants. Students have developed their knowledge of what plants need to thrive, including sunlight, water, and soil care. They have taken great pride in planting and nurturing their own seedlings, and we are excited that these will be sent home at the end of term. This provides a lovely opportunity for students to continue their learning beyond the classroom and share their experience with their families.
In addition to growing our own plants, students have had the opportunity to harvest and use fresh ingredients directly from our school garden. We have explored a variety of vegetables and herbs, including broccoli, basil and parsley, and incorporated these into our cooking sessions. Students have loved working together to prepare simple, healthy recipes while developing important life skills such as measuring, chopping, and following instructions.
The Kitchen Garden program continues to support our learning across many areas, encouraging teamwork, responsibility, and an appreciation for fresh, healthy food. It has been wonderful to see students becoming more confident and curious in both the garden and the kitchen.
Recipes that we have explored throughout the term will be shared with families on Seesaw at the end of term, so you can enjoy recreating these dishes at home together.
We look forward to continuing our Kitchen Garden journey in the terms ahead! ✨
